The photo that appears at the top of these pages was taken by Brian T. Murphy, a professional photographer from Birmingham, Alabama.  Like a lot of the excellent work you’ll find on his Flickr.com account, this photo is an example of High Dynamic Range photography (HDR), a difficult and creative process which allows the photographer to make fascinating images that often seem both surreal and very real at the same time.

You can see the original of this Oxford photograph, taken on a trip, here.  You will notice that I used photoshop to tug and crop on it a bit in order to fold it into the space available.
