Tonight the Board of Aldermen are going to discuss whether or not to extend bar hours during football game weekends.  Bar owners are requesting closing time of 2 a.m. on Thursday – Saturday nights on football game weekends.  If approved, the extended hours would be applicable for one year.  The argument in favor is that it will bring a needed revenue boost to the city.

Had I been asked about this 8 or 10 years ago I would have been all for the extended hours, but hearing about this now just makes me feel like taking a nap.
